Vehicle invoice (CFDI)
Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet — the official Mexican digital invoice that proves the purchase and ownership of the vehicle. It must be in the name of the person doing the procedure. Sales receipts, partial-payment CFDIs, and payment complements are not accepted — only the full invoice for the sale.
How to get it
The seller (dealership or private party) issues it at the time of purchase. For private sales, ownership is transferred by endorsing the original invoice (signed carta factura, valid up to 30 days after signing). For vehicles imported from the U.S., use the Title; from Canada, the Registration or Certificat d'immatriculation.
