Since 2023, almost every vehicle procedure in Jalisco runs by appointment only through the portal agendador-shp.jalisco.gob.mx. Here's how to create your account, book step by step, and what to do when there are no slots (the portal's #1 complaint).

The appointment is just the "ticket" to get in. Official payments (alta, refrendo, etc.) happen at the counter on the day.

Procedures that need an appointment in 2026

  • Plate registration (new car, out-of-state, imported)
  • Motorcycle registration
  • Ownership transfer (private sale within Jalisco)
  • Plate cancellation (recommended, not mandatory)
  • Registration card replacement
  • Plate replacement (lost or stolen)
  • Driver's license (new or renewal)
  • No appointment needed:
  • 3×1 swap during the extension (through May 29, 2026)
  • Physical vehicle inspection — Wednesdays at UNIRSE with walk-in ticket

What you need to create an account on agendador-shp

Before booking, register. The portal asks for:

  1. 1. CURP (18 characters)
  2. 2. RFC
  3. 3. Valid email address
  4. 4. Municipality of the procedure (Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, etc.)
  5. 5. Vehicle data: make, model, year, VIN, engine number, current plate

If you don't have an RFC, get it free at rfc.sat.gob.mx (Mexicans) or at an SAT module (foreigners). Without an RFC you can't register.

Step by step

1. Go to agendador-shp.jalisco.gob.mx from your computer or phone.

2. Log in (or register if it's your first time).

3. Choose the procedure type from the menu: registration, transfer, replacement, cancellation, license.

4. Select the office. In Puerto Vallarta: UNIRSE Fluvial Vallarta (Av. Grandes Lagos #236). In Guadalajara there are several (Central, Zapopan, Tlaquepaque).

5. Pick a date and time. If there are no slots, see the next section.

6. Confirm vehicle and owner data.

7. Get the confirmation by email and on-screen. Print it or save it to your phone — you'll present it at the counter.

Total time: 5–10 minutes if you have your CURP and RFC handy.

What if there are no slots?

This is the #1 complaint about the portal. PV and GDL offices usually run out of slots in the early hours.

Tricks that actually work:

  • Refresh between 7 and 8 AM. The system releases new slots overnight.
  • Try other offices in the same municipality. In PV there's only one (UNIRSE Fluvial Vallarta), but in GDL you can move between Central, Zapopan, or Tlaquepaque.
  • Monday and Tuesday have more availability than Friday.
  • Don't book too far ahead — grab the soonest business day.
  • Call 33 3030 1700 (SET line) if it's urgent. They sometimes route you to an alternate office.
  • Email recaudacion.shp@jalisco.gob.mx. Reply in 24–48 hours.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. Log in, go to "Mis citas," and cancel. The slot returns to the pool and you can book a different date.

Cancel at least 24 hours ahead if you can't make it. If you no-show twice in a row, the system can temporarily block you.

What to bring on the day

  • Appointment confirmation (printed or on phone)
  • Documents in original AND copy for your procedure
  • Valid government photo ID
  • Payment method — cash, card, or pre-issued bank reference

Common booking mistakes

1. No RFC. The portal requires it. Get one free first.

2. Vehicle data mismatch. The VIN or engine number must match the registration card EXACTLY. One wrong letter and the appointment fails at the counter.

3. Wrong procedure type. If you pick "Alta" when you need "Cambio de propietario," the SET denies you the day of. Ask if unsure.

4. Arriving outside the time window. Appointments have a 15-minute window. Arrive late and you go to the waitlist, sometimes rescheduled entirely.

5. Lost confirmation. Screenshot the confirmation the moment it's generated. Save it to a "procedures" folder on your phone.

FAQ

How much does an agendador-shp appointment cost? Free. You only pay the procedure fees at the counter the day of your appointment.

Can I book an appointment for someone else? Yes, but whoever shows up must bring a simple power of attorney + their own ID + the owner's ID. The appointment is booked under the owner's data.

Are there appointments on weekends? No. The SET operates Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM at most offices.

How long does the procedure take with an appointment? 30 minutes to 2 hours with complete documentation. Without an appointment or with missing paperwork, it can eat the whole day.

Is the 3×1 swap also booked through agendador-shp? Not during the extension. Through May 29, 2026, the 3×1 swap is walk-in. After that, it goes through the portal.

What if I'm a foreign resident — can I create an account? Yes. You need CURP and RFC already issued (from RENAPO and SAT). You register the same way as a Mexican citizen.

Does the portal work on mobile? Yes, it's responsive. Works well on mobile Chrome and Safari. If you have problems, try desktop.
