How much do motorcycle plates cost in Jalisco 2026?

ProcedureCost
Motorcycle registration (plate + registration card)$831 MXN
Annual refrendo$600 MXN
Electric motorcycle — first registrationExempt
Physical vehicle inspection (if required)~$381 MXN

The $831 registration includes the rear plate, the sticker, and the registration card — all in one visit. No coming back.

Motorcycles only carry one plate, the rear one. Different from cars, which carry two (front and rear).

Do motorcycles pay refrendo in Jalisco?

Yes, but less than cars. The annual motorcycle refrendo is $600 MXN and you pay it the same way as a car — online, at OXXO, or at the recaudadora.

The good part: motorcycles are exempt from the emissions verification in Jalisco. You don't have to go to the verificentro or pay for it. That obligation is for cars only.

Step by step: how to get motorcycle plates in Puerto Vallarta

In Puerto Vallarta there are no SET Elektra kiosks (those are only in Guadalajara and the metro area). The trámite happens at the UNIRSE recaudadora.

1. Physical inspection (only if it applies) If your motorcycle comes from another state, has no prior registration, or was imported, you have to pass the physical vehicle inspection first. It's done at UNIRSE Fluvial Vallarta on Wednesdays — arrive early to get a ticket. This step goes before your appointment.

2. Book your appointment Go to agendador-shp.jalisco.gob.mx, create an account with your CURP, RFC, and email, and pick UNIRSE Fluvial Vallarta as the recaudadora. Choose the motorcycle registration trámite.

3. Show up with everything On the day of your appointment, bring all documents in original and copy. If something is missing, they send you back and you lose the slot — so double-check the list before leaving.

4. Pay at the counter The cost is $831 MXN. Pay cash or card at the cashier window.

5. Walk out with everything in hand Same day they hand you the rear plate, the sticker, and your registration card. No extra trip.

Time at the counter: about 15–30 minutes if your paperwork is complete.

What if I want someone to do this for me?

Pepe does exactly that. You send him photos of your documents on WhatsApp, he checks they're complete, goes to the recaudadora, and delivers everything. No lines, no lost day, no surprises.

FAQ

Can I register my motorcycle without an invoice? You need some document that proves ownership — it can be the original invoice, a carta factura, or in some cases a court ruling. If you bought the bike used and have none of that, message Pepe before going to the recaudadora because each case is different.

Do motorcycles also have to do the 3×1 plate swap? Not really. The 3×1 Program was for motorcycles with old plates (prior to the current design). If your bike already has current Collage or Cabañas plates, you do nothing. If it has older plates, yes — the swap applies, and for motorcycles it cost $385 MXN.

How long does it take to get the plate? Same day. Jalisco hands you the plate on the same visit — no waiting days, no coming back.

Can I register my motorcycle at any municipality in Jalisco? Yes, at any recaudadora in the state. You don't have to go to the one in your municipality. In Puerto Vallarta, the only option is UNIRSE Fluvial Vallarta.

Can my imported motorcycle get Jalisco plates? Yes, but you need the permanent import pedimento (clave R1) and the IVA payment receipt. If the bike is on temporary import, it doesn't apply — you have to nationalize it first.

Do electric motorcycles pay anything? The first plate registration is exempt. The annual refrendo is also exempt for electric motorcycles.
